This is a time when idea of being successful among graduates is joining multi-national. Regardless of our definition of success, there are, oddly enough, a great number of personalities who rather chose to make an idea successful. Needless to say, with the passion to achieve something different. While we are seeing a multitude of business ideas, although less in number, springing up here and there, here we revisit to some of the entrepreneurs who made National Institute of Technology proud!


  • Srini Raju

Chintalapati Srinivasa Raju, widely known as Srini Raju, is a National Institute of Technology Kurukshetra passout. Srini Raju was the CEO of Cognizant, the in-house technology unit of Dun & Bradstreet, established in 1994, which focused on implementing large-scale IT projects for Dun & Bradstreet businesses.
Srini later became the Co-founder and Chairman of Peepul Capital, a Private Equity (PE) firm based out of Hyderabad and Chennai. Besides funding and mentoring next generation entrepreneurs, he plays an active role in building educational institutions of higher learning. Besides investing and mentoring young professional and entrepreneurs, he is continuing to make large contributions to the cause of building Institutions of Excellence in the field of Management and Technology.

  •  Punit Soni

An engineering graduate from National Institute of Technology Kurukshetra, masters in Electrical Engineering from University of Wyoming and MBA from Wharton, he was working with Google before Flipkart roped him in as the Product Head. He is widely believed to bring more focus on the Flipkart app.
A year on, he stepped down from his role in Flipkart , and started something of his own in the Valley.
He is presently the Chief Executive Officer of Learning Motors- A Startup focused on using machine learning to solve a real world use case.

  • Pradeep Kar

Pradeep Kar is the Founder, Chairman and Managing Director of Microland, recognized as a key player in the Remote Infrastructure Management services space in India. A serial entrepreneur, Pradeep graduated from Visvesvaraya National Institute of Technology Nagpur in 1981.
Starting out at Wipro in 1983, he later worked for a couple of years in a computer retail store before relocating to the US to run Sonata Software for three years. He came back to India in 1989 to set up Microland, which started building computer networks. He started a slew of internet companies, one of them being, a professional services venture to build websites for companies. Then came portals called,, and in 1999.
He has been recognized as ‘India Young Business Achiever Award’ as well as being a ‘Global Leader for Tomorrow’. He speaks frequently at conferences and industry events on the topics of remote infrastructure management, Information Technology and disruptive convergence.

  • Ranjan Dash

Dr. Ranjan Dash is the co-founder and chief executive officer of Y-Carbon, a materials science company located at Philadelphia. Born in a Brahmin family, Dash graduated with honours in B.Tech (Ceramic Engineering) from National Institute of Technology Rourkela in the year 1998.
He worked as a senior officer in Tata Refractories Limited from 1998-2000 He then joined Network Program India Limited and worked there till 2002 when he went to US to pursue higher education in Drexel University. At Drexel, he met Yury Gogotsi, a fellow research scientist who was leading the group which developed Y-Carbon’s core technology of which Dash was also a member. He was the first student to pursue dual degree of a Ph.D. and MBA, both within 4 years at Drexel University.


  • Rajeev Madhavan

Rajeev Madhavan is a founder and General Partner of Clear Ventures, where he focuses on early stage technology investments. He serves as Secretary of Wabco-TVS (India) Ltd. He is a Co-Founder of two design firms. He co-founded Magma Design Automation Inc., in 1997 and served as its Chief Executive Officer since April 1997. He served as President of Magma Design Automation Inc. from 1997 to May 2001 and also as its Secretary.
Mr. Madhavan founded three startups. He served as a General Manager of Finance, Compliance Officer and Secretary at Wabco India Limited. Prior to that, Mr. Madhavan founded and served as the President and Chief Executive Officer of Ambit Design Systems Inc., from July 1994 to February 1997. Previously, he co-founded and served as Director of Engineering of LogicVision, Inc.
He has been a venture investor in over 35 companies. He is an Independent early stage IT venture capital. He is a recipient of the Red Herring Top Innovator award, the lifetime achievement award at NITK, India and various other awards. Mr. Madhavan received a degree in Electronics and Communication from National Institute of Technology Karnataka in 1987.

  • Jessie Paul

Jessie Paul is the founder CEO of Paul Writer, a marketing strategic advisory firm that was founded in January 2010 to provide advisory and program management services to companies. Jessie is also the author of No Money Marketing, a book on building and marketing brands on frugal budgets. She was formerly Chief Marketing Officer of Wipro IT Business and Global Brand Manager at Infosys Technologies Ltd. She is also an Independent Director in the Board of Directors with SQS India BFSI Limited, public company listed in both Bombay Stock Exchange(BSE) and NSE.

Jessie Paul holds a bachelor’s degree in Computer Science and an Engineering degree from National Institute of Technology Tiruchirappalli. Paul is considered an expert in brand globalization, and has been named one of the most influential women in information technology in India.

  • K.R Sridhar

Dr. K. R. Sridhar, Ph.D. co-founded Bloom Energy Corporation in 2001 and serves as its Chairman and Chief Executive Officer. Prior to founding Bloom Energy, he was Director of the Space Technologies Laboratory (STL) at the University of Arizona where he was also a professor of Aerospace and Mechanical Engineering. Under his leadership, STL won several nationally competitive contracts to conduct research and development for Mars exploration and flight experiments to Mars. He has served as an advisor to NASA and has led major consortia of industry, academia, and national labs. He has also served on many technical committees, panels and advisory boards and has several publications and patents.
Sridhar received his bachelor’s degree in Mechanical Engineering with Honors from National Institute of Technology, Tiruchirappalli. His work for the NASA Mars program was recognized by Fortune Magazine, where he was cited as “one of the top five futurists inventing tomorrow, today.”

  • Santosh Gannavarupa

Santosh Gannavarapu is Co-Founder of Sokrati Inc. and serves as its Chief Technology Officer. Sokrati is a marketing and advertising company founded in the year 2009. Sokrati is one of India’s leading digital ad technology, paid search and big data analytics firm, with proprietary algorithms, artificial intelligence, and automation at its backbone.
He completed Computer Science Engineering in the year 2000 from National Institute of Technology  Warangal. He is involved with the architecture, scalability and engineering empowering technology that delivers millions of ads. Before Sokrati he was involved with software powering Amazon’s Affiliate Marketing. Prior to that that he was in the Technical Staff of Vmware building applications that utilize virtualization for high computing. And before that he was a part of the Office XP team at Microsoft enabling Outlook to connect to IBM’s Lotus Domino Server.

  • Sachin Kumar Verma

CEO and Founder of Incture Technologies, Sachin Kumar Verma is leading the creation of the smartapps market and the intelligent algorithm ecosystem. He founded Incture Technologies, with a vision to create a new age enterprise that becomes a platform for people to co-innovate smart process apps or smartapps.
Sachin has a B.Tech in Computer Science from National Institute of Technology  Warangal. Sachin works as a mentor, coach and executive consultant and has helped pioneer through research and ‘hands-on’ exposure to the world’s leading companies the evolution to advanced BPM Technology. An inspirational speaker, he has been educating and coaching business and IT executives on BPM. He has authored BPM courses and end-to-end curricula for accelerating BPM journey of customers and the ecosystem.

  • Deshamanya Dayalal Mahesh Amalean

Deshamanya Dayalal Mahesh Amalean co-founded MAS Holdings Limited and serves as its Chairman. Mr. Amalean has been an Independent Non-Executive Director of Dialog Axiata Plc since May 2014. He serves as Chairman of the Board at attune Germany GmbH.Born to parents with Gujarati ancestry, This Sri Lankan engineer and industrialist graduated in Chemical Engineering from National Institute of Technology Tiruchirappalli.

He started a manufacturing company with his brothers named Sigma Industries which began operations in Ratmalana, Sri Lanka in August 1985. Moving into the apparel industry he founded MAS Holdings which is a leader in the apparel industry in Sri Lanka catering to major brands such as Victoria’s Secret. For his contribution to Sri Lankan industry in 2005 he was conferred with the title of Deshamanya by the government of Sri Lanka.
